RUSSIAN HILL HANDYMAN Co. | Week of 16 jan. ’12

Weekly updates should feature things like…

  • “Hey, last week we did THIS thing for the first time…”
  • We served new customers in THESE neighborhoods…
  • Cool products from So-and-so were fun to install
  • We’re completely book this week — or —
  • We’ve got appointments available on Wednesday and Friday. If it’s Wednesday and you’re reading this, we probably book appointments and were too busy to update the blog.

In addition to sharing photos of things we snapped with the iPhone. iPhone; the official smartphone of RUSSIAN HILL HANDYMAN Co.

Children of the sun, see your time has just begun, searching for your ways, through adventures every day. Every day and night, with the condor in flight, with all your friends in tow, you search for the Cities of Gold. Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah… wishing for The Cities of Gold. Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah… some day we will find The Cities of Gold. Do-do-do-do ah-ah-ah, do-do-do-do, Cities of Gold. Do-do-do-do, Cities of Gold. Ah-ah-ah-ah-ah… some day we will find The Cities of Gold.

Hey there where ya goin’, not exactly knowin’, who says you have to call just one place home. He’s goin’ everywhere, B.J. McKay and his best friend Bear. He just keeps on movin’, ladies keep improvin’, every day is better than the last. New dreams and better scenes, and best of all I don’t pay property tax. Rollin’ down to Dallas, who’s providin’ my palace, off to New Orleans or who knows where. Places new and ladies, too, I’m B.J. McKay and this is my best friend Bear.

This is my boss, Jonathan Hart, a self-made millionaire, he’s quite a guy. This is Mrs H., she’s gorgeous, she’s one lady who knows how to take care of herself. By the way, my name is Max. I take care of both of them, which ain’t easy, ’cause when they met it was MURDER!

RUSSIAN HILL HANDYMAN Co. | Week of 9 jan. ’12

Long before I started swinging this hammer, great-grandad had his little thing going in Bound Brook with the stonecrusher, which is pretty bad-ass.

Currently, we’re booking new customers during the week of XXXXX — your best bet for getting an appointment on the calendar is to have the expectation that we’ll be scheduling your job for the first full week of March, except in the case of emergencies or Premium Bookings.

*(Premium Bookings are performed at time-and-a-half — they generally represent dates and times that we’ve committed to other long-term or in-house projects, but are potentially available to customers on an emergency basis.)

… and before his son took over the quarry, he sold Harley-Davidson motorcycles in Bound Brook back in ’15. Way to go, Uncle Bill.

Just the good ol’ boys, never meanin’ no harm. Beats all you’ve ever saw, been in trouble with the law since the day they was born. Straight’nin’ the curve, flat’nin’ the hills. Someday the mountain might get ’em, but the law never will. Makin’ their way, the only way they know how, that’s just a little bit more than the law will allow. Just good ol’ boys, wouldn’t change if they could, fightin’ the system like a true modern day Robin Hood.

I never spend much time in school but I taught ladies plenty. It’s true I hire my body out for pay, hey hey. I’ve gotten burned over Cheryl Tiegs, blown up for Raquel Welch. But when I end up in the hay it’s only hay, hey hey. I might jump an open drawbridge, or Tarzan from a vine. ‘Cause I’m the unknown stuntman that makes Eastwood look so fine.

Ulysses, Ulysses – Soaring through all the galaxies. In search of Earth, flying in to the night. Ulysses, Ulysses – Fighting evil and tyranny, with all his power, and with all of his might. Ulysses – no-one else can do the things you do. Ulysses – like a bolt of thunder from the blue. Ulysses – always fighting all the evil forces bringing peace and justice to all.

RUSSIAN HILL HANDYMAN Co. | Mardi Gras!

We postponed two customers today — all three of us were extremely relieved about rescheduling. It felt like a pair of postponed blind dates or something.

I’m continuing to test out this new platform for the website, and I have to say that I’m really JAZZED about the prospects for WordPress and RUSSIAN HILL HANDYMAN. (Please pardon the New Orleans-inspired pun)

We don’t do much painting, plastering or stucco — or photography, for that matter — but if we did, we’d hope that it would look as good as this photo from @singep on flickr — check out his pool, here.

Your patience is — as always — appreciated.

RUSSIAN HILL HANDYMAN Co. | Week of 13 Feb. ’12

We had a busy week last week — four brand new customers, and we hope that they found our work to be a perfect fit for the needs and expectations. If not, we hope that they’ll let us know how we can do better work in the future.

This week, we’re completely booked with the exception of the afternoon of Friday afternoon the 24th — if we don’t book the date by this Tuesday, it’s going to be an office day and we’re going to close the week, except for “Premium Booking*” customers. We’re looking forward to jobs in The Marina, Pacific Heights and — thank goodness — right here on Russian Hill, all of which include some finish electrical, finish plumbing fixtures, some drywall repair and some general troubleshooting.

Currently, we’re booking new customers during the week of March 5th — your best bet for getting an appointment on the calendar is to have the expectation that we’ll be scheduling your job for the first full week of March, except in the case of emergencies or Premium Bookings.

*(Premium Bookings are performed at time-and-a-half — they generally represent dates and times that we’ve committed to other long-term or in-house projects, but are potentially available to customers on an emergency basis.)

Working Through The Details of Changing the Website…

Trying out some new features of the Theme — STRUCTURE — in wordpress.

We’re very excited about moving the website off of the WST platform from GoDaddy and using WordPress for a couple of reasons. The first is the increased quality of the finished product, which is — we must say — dramatically better on WordPress than on WST. The second is that WordPress sort-of forces our hand from being a business whose website functions as purely a static representation of ourselves to an enterprise that lets you get to know about us by learning about what we’re doing at the time that you need us. We’re looking forward to updating you on our current availability, the work we’re doing this week, the neighborhoods in which we’re working, and the things towards which we’re looking ahead during the upcoming weeks.

Pardon the grammatical errors above — I’m racing through some new posts in the interests of determining how best to utilize the site to serve you.

RUSSIAN HILL HANDYMAN Co. | Site Upgrades In Progress

We’re upgrading our website — because we’re gluttons for punishment.

In March ’12, RUSSIAN HILL HANDYMAN Co. will upgrade its website from the WST platform to WordPress. Currently, we’re in the process of an initial Q/A session to determine the efficacy of the platform. Thanks for your patience as we conduct the migration.
